No. No giant spiders. Bedelia was no Hagrid either. Giant spiders and other beasties did not lurk in the dark corners of their woods, and on the odd occasion that they found their way there, they were disposed of quickly. No, any darkness on their grounds was cultivated by the Supreme and her witches themselves; to much of the world, they were their own monsters. But that was true of any coven, wasn’t it? They will fit in just fine.
If asked, Bedelia would not lie about her leg. She did what was necessary to save one of her own, to provide safety for her coven.
What did the personal cost matter?
If asked, Cordelia would have sacrificed one of her legs ( or both her eyes ) too but as no one ever asked her, this opinion of hers was of no value. Though, she thought about this a lot — herself becoming the next supreme ( nothing but a joke! ) and all the things she would change with her new responsibilites and powers. Doing better than her mother would not be difficult. “Is there something else we need to know? Something I should talk about with my girls before we leave?”
